Banks have overtaken securities companies as the leading sellers of investment trusts and now account for 40% of assets under management at these funds. However, there are emerging signs that being a bank no longer guarantees success in this market. As consumer needs grow more diverse, product lineups and the ability to propose products tailored to customer needs may come to figure more prominently in the sales performance of individual lenders.
